Blue Water Bridge Strike Over

Wow, the Blue Water Bridge strike seemed to end so quickly.  That to me seems somewhat strange to be honest.  Why was there a need for one at all!

Oh well, I am happy that it is all done now.  It was on for about 3 weeks for whatever reason:

"The strike was the first in the history of the Blue Water Bridge, which opened to traffic in October 1938."  (Katrease Stafford, Detroit Free Press, December 9, 2016)

It really is all very peculiar to me.  Negotiations started 2 years ago when the old contract expired.  Then the strike came when no deal supposedly could be done.  Yet a settlement was reached effectively so quickly after the strike was started.

At least I publicized the labour issue and wrote a number of articles about what was happening.  I wonder if that had an impact.  I sure hope it had a positive one!

Let's see what may happen in other border crossing locations in the future.
