It looks like the strike
involving the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia is still ongoing. I believe that it is
close now to the 3rd week of the strike.
My information is that not
only are the parties not talking but there are no meetings set up yet for them
to do so. I must admit that I do not understand the logic of that
approach.
As far as traffic numbers
go, I have not seen anything being produced yet to let us know what is happening
with respect to the border crossings in Sarnia especially at this time of the year when
traffic should generally be pretty high.
Here are a couple of photos
that I was sent that shows what traffic was like at the Bridge. Hmm I don't
see many vehicles at all! I was told that these photographs were taken of traffic on Saturday, December 3, which usually is one of the busiest days 3 weeks before
Christmas although I do not know the time they were taken.
What I am told is this
could be one of the lowest volumes of traffic ever seen for over a decade.
I just wonder when the Union and Management will meet again and whether attempts will be made to resolve the
differences between the parties to end the strike.
If not...who knows what would happen next!
