Blue Water Bridge Strike Update

I thought  that I would post what I have heard about the Bridge border strike that is taking place right now in the Sarnia area at the Blue Water Bridge.  It is after Day #1 of the strike.

It does make it better for the Union people and puts the Government at risk to annoy the border users right now. It could get much worse if the strike lasts a long time if traffic backups get bigger and bigger.

Traffic certainly will not get better over the  next few days as big holidays start in the US and people need to cross the border.  I would guess that border crossing time could take multi-hours.

From a truck business side, there is no doubt that truck users will choose Windsor/Detroit to cross the border rather than take the big backup risk in Sarnia now.  Who knows, that could  mean the truck drivers will like crossing here even when the strike ends.

Here is what I  have  heard so far from the Union  people:

"It went really well today. We know management was scrambling to cover some of the duties of our members.

We had a tremendous amount of union support, and we received tonnes of messages of solidarity from the public.

We will be out tomorrow morning for a strategic picket at the bridge at 7am again."

A warning to Management.  End the strike soon or else it will get really ugly for you from everyone including people in our area too!
