Of course,
I knew that the Condominium site was going to have work done here to fix up any
kind of problems in the road. I must admit though that I did not expect any
work to be done today because of the bad rains last night in which it poured
very heavily and the possibility of more rain today. I was even going to speak
with the fellows who were going to do the work as they were doing it but I
never expected anyone to be doing that task.
Was I ever
mistaken! But I will tell you about that shortly.
My wife and
I decided to go for a stroll at around 10 o'clock in the morning. It seemed
that it might rain shortly but the temperature was not very high. It was
certainly not in the 80+ degree range, a temperature which was much too hot for
me to take a walk. So we went out for a
walk but took a shortcut to get to the main street. I was stunned to see what I
saw. On our left, a whole bunch of union people were picketing outside of the
Tecumseh library building. We immediately went back to our house to gather up a
camera so that I could take pictures of the union members picketing in front of
the library.
After
gathering the camera, we immediately went to the library and talked to some of
the librarians that we knew. We then took photographs of members from all of
the libraries in the area who had joined together to walk the picket lines in
front of our library.
I took a
lot of photos but I'm only going to post the ones that I thought were the best. What
fascinated me was that the people had all come out from many of the different schools
in the area to form a nice big picket line here. I assume that all of the
people will now go to other schools to form picketing lines there.
The people
there did not seem to know whether the meeting that is supposed to be held
tomorrow to try to work out a settlement will do so or not. We shall see.
Marsha and I are in this one!
Some of the people who work in our Tecumseh Library. Fabulous staff who have been so helpful to us.
Now here are some of other Library people:
Just a great group of people who should not have been forced to be on strike and lose so much money!
Just to let you know what happened subsequently, Marsha and I started walking home after taking the photographs above. As we approached the entrance way road into our Condo plaza area, to our shock we saw some work being started for the road repairs. We were completely mistaken when we thought that no work would be done today because of the risk of rain.
The 2 key
areas for our part Plaza had to do with preparing the roadway where it had
cracked to be repaired and also determining what other work needed to be
provided on the condo units themselves.
The road
that had to be repaired was the entire condo and private road that provide
entrance way and exits for people who wanted to come to the units here. There
were cracks in the road and someone determined that it was now time to repair
them.
As for the Condo work, my Board made sure that our complex was kept great looking by cleaning it up and in great condition.

Notwithstanding
the poor weather in the morning (which seemed to get better in the early
afternoon), I saw work being started in this part of the repair system and it was completed quickly.
Here are
some pictures of that work being done.
