Can anyone explain what is going on with the weather? I sure cannot. It is going up to 60 degrees plus this week. In March, in winter!
How many times have we seen the actual weather bearing little relationship to what was forecast just a bit before? It made little sense to me to see that happening. I could not understand it since it was happening so often these days it seemed to me.
We've had really bizarre
weather in this area over the last little while haven't we. Can you remember
when the weather hit high temperature records for several days as happened
recently and then we've had the weather crash on us a day or so later to very
cold weather. How can we have so many high record temperatures in the wintertime
followed by so many cold weather temperatures? Moreover, why was
that happening? It was very disturbing to me from a weather perspective for
sure. How could anyone make a plan since temperatures could change so
unexpectedly.
Don't you remember, it was
predicted mere days ago that we were going to have a massive snowstorm here in
the Essex County area. The forecast a few days before said the weather clouds
might drop up to 8 inches of snow or more in the area where I live.
Now, we actually got a lot less in snowfall numbers so we
won't be trapped and be required to dig out ourselves by all of that white
stuff. However, the forecast was still pretty horrible.
I am being kidded by my
family members about how often I follow weather forecasts and sending it off to
them or talking about it on a day when we are together. I must
admit that I did a lot of weather watching in the locations where we were going
for a holiday. After all, I had to know what was going to happen to us didn't I
because we were out of town. I had to make sure that we were completely secure.
Who wanted to be caught in a rain or thunder storm when we were outside of our
hotel room traveling in the area.
I find it interesting that
weather forecasts from our media these days are rather different as they keep
being changed so often. In the same way, we keep getting information from
amongst them but it isn't necessarily the same at all. It well could be
different for them:
"If you put 1,000
meteorologists in a room and asked for a forecast, guess what you'd get?
Yup...1,000 different forecasts and 1,000 different reasons why they'd be right!
The funny thing about my profession is how many so called "experts" are out
there when it comes to meteorology/weather forecasting, even those without
academic degrees or formal training and experience. This has become even more
rampant in the Social Media era. There are fewer "experts" in the business of
long range forecasting, like we do here at Weather Trends, yet just about
everyone has their favourite method for predicting the weather"

How many times have we seen
weather forecasters on television give us a weather forecast and then see what
we were told having no relationship to the weather that we are actually
experiencing. Again, in the last little while, I read a forecast on a TV Channel
weather section but, in that story, the author told us that the weather might
change the night before the day we had just been told about. It seemed so
strange to me that it was often the reality.
As an example, as I have
seen, even days before what is going on here now with respect to snow and rain,
that the weather forecast could not be determined by the weather people. It is
almost to the point where they are only giving us the weather forecast not in
advance but for the time when they are telling us what the forecast actually is
right at that time. They really could not tell us what the weather
action would be like for a variety of reasons.
Notwithstanding what you
may think, dear reader, I'm not critical of weather people. Their job is a very
difficult one because they are being asked to tell us exactly what will happen
days after we first know what they believe based on information that they have
at that time. We all know that such action is impossible because weather changes
for a variety of reasons that may not be predictable at all.
At the least, they are
being helpful to us to allow us to take action that may be helpful to us given
what they are predicting in the weather forecast for us. Even if
that bad weather being projected does not happen, we can take comfort that we
prepared for it.
Heck, if they are right
very often, then it is pretty positive for them as well too.
